Koch Applied Solutions Supplies Boiler Systems For Carbon Neutral Distillery

Koch Applied Solutions is proud to share that it will be a key supplier for what is expected to be one of North America’s largest carbon neutral distilleries. Diageo, a global leader in beverage alcohol, is currently  building a new carbon neutral distillery in Lebanon, Kentucky. Expected to begin production in 2021, the distillery will be powered by 100% renewable electricity, with a capacity to produce up to 10 million proof gallons per year.

The Cincinnati-based Koch Applied Solutions, is the Kentucky sales representative for Precision Boiler. Precision will be supplying the electrode boilers that will allow Diageo to avoid significant greenhouse gas emissions from the site, enabling the company to take further strides towards its 2030 sustainability goals.

This innovative boiler equipment allows Diageo to take its energy commitments to a higher level since no fossil fuels will be consumed on site during the bourbon production process. Carbon neutrality for the distillery will be accomplished through the utilization of E-Green Certified renewable electricity supplied on a long-term agreement to Diageo by Inter-County Energy and East Kentucky Power. This clean energy will be utilized to supply the boilers with power for steam production.

Working with Lexington-based, Gray Construction, Koch Applied Solutions provided support during the selection of Precision electrode boilers for this project and will also supply other ancillary equipment.

The new Diageo distillery will produce Bulleit bourbon and other American Whiskies and will consist of a distillery, DDG dry house and up to 12 warehouses. Overall, the distillery is expected to avoid annual carbon emissions by more than 117,000 metric tons, equivalent to taking more than 25,000 cars off the road for an entire year.
